History

St. Monica Church has a rich history of service to Coos Bay and surrounding communities which dates back to 1888.
Our existing church was dedicated in 1930. The parish operated a Catholic school between 1935 and 1971.
The two most recent major parish projects conducted on campus include construction of the Sun House in 1978 and the updating of the church interior in 1988, in time for the one-hundreth anniversary of the parish. -
